A Fort Worth Afghan national who threatened to carry out a suicide bombing during an online video exchange has pleaded guilty to a federal charge, nearly a year after authorities arrested him.
Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, now 32, entered America under former President Joe Biden’s Operation Allies Welcome, as The Dallas Express previously reported. A DHS official said he was paroled under that program. Reporting attributed to DHS also said he was admitted as a lawful permanent resident on September 7, 2022.
Alokozay pleaded guilty on Tuesday to transmitting a threatening communication in interstate commerce, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas announced Wednesday.
The plea follows a November 23, 2025, online confrontation in which Alokozay threatened other participants with a suicide bombing. Portions of the exchange later circulated on TikTok and other social media platforms.
Federal investigators searched Alokozay’s residence and cellphone, confirmed he had no bomb-making materials, and concluded that he did not intend to carry out an attack, according to the Justice Department.
Despite that finding, Alokozay admitted in court documents that he knowingly transmitted a threat to injure another person through interstate and foreign commerce.
Online Threats Led to Federal Investigation
Alokozay participated in a video chat with several people, including another Afghan national, when the participants exchanged offensive insults stemming from longstanding tribal animosity, according to prosecutors.
During the confrontation, Alokozay threatened a “suicide attack” against the other participants using a “suicide bomb.”
As The Dallas Express previously reported, investigators identified Alokozay after authorities received recordings of the exchange in November 2025.
The outlet also obtained a longer recording of the conversation and reported that Alokozay threatened violence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Authorities arrested him on November 25.
Federal prosecutors filed a criminal complaint against Alokozay on November 30, 2025.
Prosecutors Warn Against Online Threats
“Threats of suicide bombing are not jokes or momentary outbursts, they are federal crimes,” U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould said in the October 7 press release.
“The United States has zero-tolerance for any threat to engage in a suicide attack or mass casualty event. We will respond swiftly and decisively to ensure that anyone who engages in this type of behavior faces serious federal consequences.”
FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock credited members of the public who alerted authorities to the video, saying their reports helped investigators identify Alokozay.
Sentencing Remains Pending
Alokozay entered his guilty plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey L. Cureton on October 6. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in federal prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release.
The court has not yet scheduled his sentencing.
The FBI’s Fort Worth Resident Agency investigated the case with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations Dallas, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Fort Worth Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Vincent Mazzurco is prosecuting the case.
