DALLAS(WBAP/KLIF)Sub freezing temperatures are increasing the likely hood that water pipes may burst or fracture in your home, but there are simple steps to prevent a home repair nightmare.
Jim Dutton, host of Texas Home Improvement on WBAP says Texas homes were never built to withstand the extreme cold, and to protect pipes inside the house, he encourages people to unhook your water hose from outside, leave cabinet doors open that have plumbing under them and insulate or wrap any exposed water pipes.
He expect plumbers will be busy over the next several days as homeowners don’t become aware if pipes have burst until after they have thawed from warmer temperatures.
