Fort Worth’s Botanic Gardens Free Admission Soon Ending to Help Fund Renovations

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Free admission at Fort Worth Botanic gardens may not be around for much longer.

Botanic Garden director Bob Byers said they hired consultants to do a thorough assessment to evaluate the condition of the property.

After inspection, Byers said they need over $15 million to fix issues and maintain the property.  He said the garden has been under funded approximately 1.2 million dollars a year for a number of years.

In order to cover maintenance costs they have proposed to set admission fees.  $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $6 for children 6 – 15.  If approved, this new fee could be in effect next year.
