EL PASO (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Beto O’Rourke campaign said a mass text message that was sent out asking supporters to drive undocumented immigrants to the polls in November was from an impostor.
People have been getting a text from a woman named Patsy and it asks Texans to support the grassroots effort to get illegal immigrants to vote.
This is an actual text a friend in Texas just received. It is NOT from the Beto campaign. Very slick, Ted Cruz & Texas Republicans. pic.twitter.com/oyIU2TzoA4

News about the phony texts began circulating on social media, which prompted O’Rourke’s campaign to issue it’s own text saying that the impostor had signed on as a volunteer and sent the unauthorized message.
The Austin American-Statesman reports the O-Rourke campaign is taking the necessary steps to make sure the phony texts aren’t sent out again.
O’Rourke is a Democratic seeking to oust incumbent Senator Ted Cruz.
It’ s a very tight race with Cruz in a slight lead.
