(Rockwall County Jail)

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A Dallas Police officer has been arrested for injuring a child.

The department said Sergeant Jamie McDonald was arrested by the Royse City Police Department late Saturday, and remains in Rockwall County Jail now on a felony charge.

According to the Royse City Police Department, officers received a call from David Grantham, the father of the eight-year-old girl, on October 11th.

He told officers that when he picked up his children Sunday, October 7th, he noticed bruising on his daughter’s face.

Grantham said the girl and her 12-year-old brother told him that McDonald allegedly disciplined her with an electronic device. He also told officers that McDonald also allegedly hit the girl in her face numerous times.

Royse City police said detectives along with the assistance of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Rockwall County obtained evidence that support the accusations.

An Emergency Order of Protection was filed and a referral to Child Protective Services was completed.

McDonald has been with Dallas PD since 2002.

She’s been placed on administrative leave.
