Texas Sues California Over Travel Ban

Posted on February 11, 2020

Austin (WBAP/KLIF)  Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Supreme Court, stating California’s three year old travel ban is having a negative financial impact on Texas.  Back in 2017, California banned all non-essential state travel to 11 states including Texas, for enacting what California lawmakers called anti-LGBT rights laws.  Texas was added to the list after the state legislature passed a law allowing foster care providers to factor in their own religious beliefs when making decisions about childrens’ education, medical treatment and other services.  In a statement, Paxton said, “California is attempting to punish Texans for respecting the right of conscience for foster care and adoption providers.”  He went on to say the boycott is nothing more than “political disagreement”.
