Addison Cancels Oktoberfest Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

ADDISON  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Fans of the popular Oktoberfest in Addison will have to wait until next year to take part in the German-themed festival.

The town of Addison announced Tuesday it’s canceled the multi-day event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oktoberfest, which was scheduled from September 17th-20th, attracts massive crowds for its food, live music and games.

“The health and safety of attendees, vendors, volunteers, staff and the local community was a primary driver in the difficult decision to cancel the event,” said organizers.

Addison Special Events Director Jasmine Lee said due to the social nature of the festival, it was not possible to hold such a large gathering safely.

“Addison Oktoberfest is a beloved event where tens of thousands of people look forward to gathering each year in dirndls and lederhosen to enjoy each other’s company, raise a bier and say Prost,” she said.

Organizers said the Addison Oktoberfest will return September 16, 2021.
