Denton (WBAP/KLIF) – Denton Police have arrested a suspect in a politically motivated assault. They say 44 year old Jason Lata sucker punched a protest demonstrator saturday afternoon at a Buc-ees on I-35E. The attack was recorded on several cell phones, and quickly circulated on social media. The recordings show a man in a MAGA hat who appears to be Lata, screaming and swearing at a protestor who does not respond. The suspect then hit the protestor in the face without warning, knocking him to the ground. Lata was identified through the video recordings, and arrested. He is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury.
