Dallas County Reaches Landmark New Covid Case Level Saturday

DALLAS – A frightening daily caseload of new Covid19 infections reported by Dallas County Saturday January 9th, 2021, sees levels surge well beyond the 3 thousand level for the first time.

Dallas County Saturday reported 10 deaths and nearly 3200  new cases of the virus.

Denton County on Saturday reported five additional deaths and 399 new cases.

Statewide, 350 thousand Texans have died from the Covid virus or it’s complications.

Texas Hospitals are nearing capacity with regard to available ICU beds; a Dallas firefighter and first responding paramedics told this reporter Sunday morning six area hospitals in Dallas are instructing ambulance crews to take patients to another hospital, and in some cases, if it does not seem likely the patient may survive, to instead help them as much as possible but not transport with medical facilities increasingly burdened with no available beds.

Health officials say they are bracing for the onslaught of even more new Covid 19 infections following the holiday period in which many families gathered.  A current mutated Covid 19 virus is reported to be as much as 70% more transmissible; health officials ask us to remain vigilant in protecting you and yours against this virus, by wearing masks, staying at least six feet from others and washing hands frequently.
