Texas Begins to Experience Covid-Overwhelmed Emergency Rooms

HOUSTON – The no space issue is beginning to hit North Texas hospitals with Hunt Regional Healthcare announcing it’s Commerce Emergency Room site is temporarily closed, with Texas Health at North Rockwall announcing the same change in services with onset of the Covid 19 Delta Variant pushing national Covid 19 positive numbers to levels unseen since earlier this year.

In Houston, officials warn the local health care system is pushed to nearly a breaking point, with some patients getting transferred out of city and in some cases, out of state for care because no hospital beds were available for them.  Dr. David perssee with Houston Health and an EMS medical director warns even if numbers of new infections significantly lower, the shortage of beds for new Covid 19 patient are expected to remain at current or worsening levels for at least three weeks.

National health officials warn the Delta variant of the Covid 19 virus is more transmissible then the original form, and may cause patients to become more ill.  It seems to be affecting more children this time around than in previous incarnations.  Officials are seeing breakthrough cases of the disease as well in some fully vaccinated individuals, prompting many agencies to warn the vaccinated to once again wear a mask in indoor situations around others, and outdoors, where social distancing is not possible.
