North Texas Gridiron Games Canceled Due to COVID

(WBAP/KLIF) — The spread of COVID-19 has hampered this weekend’s high school football games across North Texas.  At least 30 games were canceled in Texas and Dallas ISD Executive Athletic Director Slivia Salinas says players and fans have anticipated this longed-awaited event.

Salinas says the school continues to work with county health officials to ensure safety protocols are followed.  Executive Committees will decide how canceled district games will be handled, whether by forfeit or no contest. Garland ISD also had to cancel a couple of preseason games due to the surge.

141 football games were canceled last season and according to WFAA, this year’s cancellation outpace last year’s.
