COVID-19 Becomes More Contagious, But Less Lethal

(WBAP/KLIF) — Recent Centers for Disease Control data shows a COVID mortality rate of 0.9%, and it’s even lower in Texas at around 0.5%.

Of the nearly 51 million COVID cases during the pandemic almost 803,000 U.S. citizens have died. That’s a 1.6% chance of dying if you contract covid-19. However, prevention measures such as vaccines and protecting higher risk Americans from contraction have significantly driven down the mortality rate.

According to National Safety Council figures, the risk of dying of COVID-19 is virtually the same as being killed in a car accident, a fall, opioid overdose, or suicide.
