Houston (WBAP/KLIF)- Stunning testimony in federal court this week as former ERCOT CEO Bill Magnus blamed Gov. Greg Abbott for the sky-high electricty prices during last year’s power crisis.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Magnus testified that Abbott ordered him to keep electricity prices soaring during the blackouts and that the orders came as power plants were starting to come back on line.
The Stunning testimony came during the bankruptcy trial of Brazos Electric Power Cooperative which said it lost billions during the crisis.
The governor’s office had previously denied any role in the decision to charge maximum rates; a claim echoed by the Abbott campaign this week.
In reaction, Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke said, in a press release, in part, “Abbott screwed us and he’sll continue to screw us until we vote him out.”
