US Employers Added 678,000 Jobs in February, Unemployment Rate Dips to 3.8%

WASHINGTON D.C. (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Labor Department’s February jobs report is good news for the nation’s economy as the omicron COVID-19 wave begins to fade.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic’s report shows employers added a robust 678,000 jobs with gains in leisure and hospitality, health care, construction and professional and business service.

The report also showed a dip in the unemployment rate from 4% to 3.8%, another sign that the economy continues to bounce back from the pandemic recession.

There are about 6.3 million unemployed Americans.

In February 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the U.S., the unemployment rate was 3.5% and there about 5.7 million unemployed Americans.

The report also showed more Americans are returning to their offices. Last month, 13% of employed people teleworked due to the pandemic, that’s down from 15.4 % in January.
