ARLINGTON – The parents of a young child who died last year after contracting a brain-eating amoeba at an Arlington splash pad announced settlement with the city of Arlington to provide safer, cleaner environments for children.
Three-year old Bekari Williams died after becoming infected at an Arlington, Texas Splash Pad. The city has reached settlement providing for upgraded water cleaning practices, and providing that “real time” information to parents online and on site at water park features. Attorney Steven Stewart said the agreement also provides for the sharing of the “lessons learned” with other municipalities to prevent similar tragedies.
The deal also provides the parents of Bekari Williams $250,000 in damages.
