UVALDE – (WBAP/KLIF)- The President and First Lady have traveled from Joint Base San Antonio to Uvalde, Texas, today, to meet with families and victims of the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School last week that killed 19 children and 2 adults; a total of 38 people shot.
The mayor of Uvalde has formally requested the Justice Department investigate the delay by police officers in entering the classroom where an 18-year old gunman was using an assault-style weapon on his trapped victims. There are no answers thus far to the question of why police officers waited almost an hour before entering that classroom and neutralizing the suspect, and/or why it was a Border Patrol team that finally did. Authorities say it took officers on the scene more than 45 minutes to confront the gunman.
Parents and guardians are likely to see increased security at schools nationwide following this shooting.
