AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – The Carroll ISD Board of Trustees, and conservative state lawmakers, have an ask of other Texas school districts.
Carroll ISD recently cut ties with the Texas Association of School Boards, citing “woke” diversity and inclusion policies. State Rep Nat Schatlzine of Fort Worth said during a Monday press conference at the State Capitol that TASB presented two pages of legislative priorities before the session started.
“One thing that’s not on there?” Rep. Schatzline asked. “Improving student outcomes.”
He said Carroll should be an example for other districts.
“In making sure that student outcomes are a priority and that parents are empowered in Texas.”
The Carroll ISD Board President was present at the Monday press conference, and said the district has options when it comes to replacing resources they previously were given through TASB.
Republicans in the Texas House have filed a bill that would make it illegal for school districts to send tax dollars to non-profits that hire taxpayer funded lobbyists.
