(WBAP/KLIF) — The City of Fort Worth has solidified a deal with Michigan-based Carhartt apparel manufacturer to construct a 1.2 million square foot distribution center near Texas Motor Speedway.

Cherie Gordon with the City of Fort Worth’s business development says the agreement will bring nearly $3.2 million in tax revenue over the next 10 years. The facility will be built in the city’s northwest corner. Gordon says they were able to attract the company’s distribution facility with a property tax abatement program of up to 75% over 7 years, capped at $2-million.
The deal will bring 500 new jobs to Cowtown by December of 20-24, with an average annual salary of $55,000. Carhartt is based in Dearborn, Michigan, and has 5,500 employees.
