He has led the county since the population was less than a million people, which has more than double to today’s 2.2 million. The Tarrant County Administrator’s retirement is effective September 30th. Maenius says he had planned to retire three years ago, but when the pandemic hit, he decided to stay on board to help guide the county through the crisis.

During his tenure over the state’s third largest county, he has overseen various projects, including AT&T Stadium, the Alliance corridor, and the expansion of the American Airlines headquarters. Maenius also helped pave the way for the Panther Island development and played a key role in bringing a Texas A&M campus to Fort Worth.
