SAN ANTONIO (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A federal grand jury is reportedly looking into suspended Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
According to the Austin American Statesman, prosecutors called unidentified witnesses close to Paxton although the focus of the inquiry remains unclear.
The federal probe into the embattled Paxton began in October 2020 amid allegations from his then top deputies accusing him of committing bribery, misuse of office and abuse of power in the course of his friendship with Austin real estate developer Nate Paul.
Paxton was impeached in May and his trial in the senate is set for September 5. He’s also facing a securities fraud trial connected to a 2015 indictment.
In that particular case, Paxton and his attorneys are scheduled to appear in a Houston courtroom on October 6.
Paxton has denied all the allegations against him.
