FORT WORTH, Texas — A middle school student from North Texas is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday, officials confirmed.
Fort Worth Police responded to the scene at the intersection of McPherson Boulevard and Summer Creek Drive, south of the city, just before 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a teen who had been hit by a car, according to the police department.
The student was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The incident took place near a roundabout close to Summer Creek Middle School, which is part of the Crowley Independent School District.
Crowley ISD later issued a statement to WFAA, confirming that the injured student was from Summer Creek Middle School and that the accident occurred off-campus on February 4, after school had been dismissed.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the student and their family, and we are hoping for a full recovery,” the district said in the statement.
At this time, authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the crash or the vehicle involved.
