HURST, Texas — The Hurst Police Department made an arrest in connection with a threatening social media post targeting an Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District elementary school, officials said.

In a letter to parents, HEB ISD said over the weekend the district received a report about an “unsettling” social media post mentioning Hurst Hills Elementary. Hurst police opened an investigation and later made an arrest in connection with the post, the district said.

The HEB ISD safety and security team will place an elementary School Resource Officer at the school Monday, the letter states. The Hurst police department also plans to have an increased presence in the area, the district said.

“We appreciate the quick response of our HEB ISD Safety Team and the Hurst Police Department to investigate and ensure that our school community can continue to feel safe,” the district said in the letter. “If you ever see a social media post that concerns you, please continue to share it as soon as possible with our Hurst Hills Elementary staff or directly with the Hurst Police Department so it may be investigated.”

Police did not immediately confirm the arrest, and it’s unclear if the suspect will face charges in connection with the post.
