(WBAP/KLIF) – LOS ANGELES, CA – Thousands of National Guard members are in Los Angeles tonight responding to protests over immigration raids. President Donald Trump ordered the troops to deploy to Los Angeles after crowds of angry people began clashing with law enforcement Friday. Those clashes continued into Saturday night. On Sunday, tear gas was fired at protesters in Los Angeles when some demonstrators moved close to National Guard troops and shouted insults at them. California Governor Gavin Newsom called the deployment unnecessary. At the same time, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that if these protests do not stop, active duty Marines could be called up to put an end to them.
