Americans should “get the best pricing” for pharmaceuticals, Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, told Newsmax on Thursday, after President Donald Trump unveiled several new initiatives to lower drug costs. The measures include launching a “TrumpRx” direct-to-consumer website offering discounted medicines and reaching an agreement with Pfizer to cut the price of many of its products.
“It’s called Most Favored Nation,” Oz said during an appearance on Newsmax’s “National Report.” “So you get the same prices as anywhere else on the planet.
“We’re not asking for better, but we’re saying if we’re funding all the research, which more than half is coming from U.S. coffers, if we’re spending a lot of effort trying to make sure that our Americans are healthy, we should be able to get the best pricing, certainly equal pricing, than anybody else.”
