Indiana Republican Gov. Mike Braun has called a special session and directed state lawmakers to redraw the state’s congressional districts. The move announced Monday follows weeks of pressure from the White House to back President Donald Trump’s bid to help Republicans maintain control of the U.S. House. Braun scheduled the session to start Nov. 3. Virginia’s Democratic-led General Assembly also is meeting in a special session as a first step toward congressional redistricting. Pressure for redistricting is also mounting in both Republican-led Kansas and Democratic-led Illinois. Redistricting already has been taken up by legislatures in Republican-led Texas, Missouri and North Carolina, as well as Democratic-led California.
