MLK Day Events

DALLAS (WBAP 24/7 NEWS) – The annual Martin Luther King Junior parade and festival will be held in Dallas today, but for the first time in 29 years its founder will not be there.

Bill Blair died last April at the age of 92. The former minor league baseball player and army veteran became a Dallas community fixture while running a small local newspaper.

Fort Worth is also hosting a parade through downtown.

Most federal, state and local municipal offices will be closed in honor of the holiday. Many school districts across North Texas are also closed.
