Irving ISD Wants Attorney General to Review Opinion on Justice Department Document

IRVING (WBAP/KLIF NEWS) – The Irving Independent School District is asking the Attorney General to review his own opinion regarding an inquiry from the Department of Justice.

The district along with its legal counsel are surprised by the opinion from Ken Paxton saying the inquiry from the Justice Department is not excepted from disclosure under the Texas Public Information Act.

The inquiry deals with the arrest of student Ahmed Mohamed and a clock mistaken for a possible bomb.

The district maintains that with the possibility of litigation in the future that the inquiry can be withheld.

The Attorney General’s office didn’t agree but the district still wants the attorney general to take another look.

An e-mail to Irving ISD for explanation was not returned.
