Rowlett Police Chief Softens Up After Controversial Rally

ROWLETT (WBAP/KLIF News) After reconsidering, the Rowlett police chief is softening his opinion of a rally during black history month. A few weeks ago, students at Coyle Middle School held up signs referring to recent police-related deaths that sparked the “black lives matter” movement. Chief William Broadnax said at the time, he considered the signs to be a direct attack on police. Dominique King and Niah Wade participated in the event and told WFAA they are glad the chief is changing his position. Chief Broadnax held a meeting with parents and students last night, and told them he does not think any insults were intended by the rally.
