Dallas Zoo Responds to Protesters Upset about Elephants

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) The Dallas Zoo is responding to protesters upset about the intake of several African elephants. Seventeen elephants arrived last week at Alliance Airport in Fort Worth. The zoo posted a lengthy response on its website, saying the animals are now safe after their trip from Swaziland. A group gathered outside the zoo yesterday afternoon, protesting the move. Some experts say elephants need a large area to roam. Five of the animals went to Dallas, and 12 others were divided among zoos in Kansas and Nebraska. The Dallas Zoo says the African country is in a drought and the elephants were at risk.
