Mental Evaluation for Benbrook Mother

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – A mental evaluation has been ordered for the wife of a Van Cliburn winner accused of smothering her two daughters to death last month at their Benbrook home.

31-year-old Sofya Tsygankova will undergo the test within the next 30-days.

She remains in the Tarrant County jail charged with capital murder in the deaths of her two daughters, aged one and five.

Tsygankova has entered a plea of not guilty. The test will determine if she’s mentally competent to stand trial.
