Mansfield ISD Revises Field Trip Policy After Student Drowns

MANSFIELD (WBAP/KLIF News) – A school district in North Texas is making some changes to its field trip policy.

The move comes after the drowning of Carlos Perez in the Gulf of Mexico near Corpus Christi.

The superintendent said it’s incumbent to ensure future trips involving water activities are as safe as possible for students.

For now, all field trips that involve ocean or beach related activities have been suspended and trips that involve hotel pools and water resorts will be carefully scrutinized.

The district said those trips could be reinstated if they find adequate safety measures such as lifeguards.

If parents have paid for a trip in advance, the school will try to find other activities for the students.
