ALLEN (WBAP/KLIF News) – The City of Allen is celebrating the completion of a $4.5 million construction project that extends Montgomery Boulevard and connects Bethany Drive to US 75.

The roadway will make it easier to access the new Montgomery Ridge mixed-use development.  The city is partnering with the Montgomery family and the Watters Creek shopping center to build the roadway.

“It gives the Watters Creek Subdivision on US 75 a north-south entrance.  It also gives us another access down the service road to the Legacy entrance on US 75,” said Mayor Steve Terrell.  “There will be about 60 to 70 single-family homes on various sized lots and two multi-family operations…It is one of those neighborhoods that will sustain the test of time.”

The city will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday morning.

Homes in the development will go on the market in the next several months.

Press release from the City of Allen:

The Montgomery Boulevard extension between Bethany Drive and US 75 will open to drivers following a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, April 13.

The City of Allen collaborated with developers on the highly-anticipated roadway project. The road will provide a major access point to nearby neighborhoods, including the soon-to-be developed Montgomery Ridge. Funding for the $4.5 million project was made possible through public-private partnerships between the City of Allen, the Montgomery family and the owners of Watters Creek at Montgomery Farms.

Developers will join Allen city leaders to celebrate the new roadway during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on April 13. The public is invited to attend or watch the ceremony as it is streamed live on theCity of Allen Facebook page. The road will open to the public later that afternoon.
