CARROLLTON (WBAP/KLIF) – Residents in Carrollton are relieved to finally hear some silence around some train crossings.
That from Carrollton Mayor Matthew Marchant who says now nine more crossings have been added to the list.
“A quiet zone is where you work with the Federal Railway Administration to put in the necessary infrastructure so that when the trains go through the different street crossings they do not need to blare their train horn,” said Mayor Marchant.
Part of preparing the crossings involved updating guard fails and structures.
There are a few more crossings where trains will still use horns including in Downtown Carrollton.
The quiet zones are in mostly residential neighborhoods.
