Too Early to Tell if West Explosion ‘Criminal Act’ was Act of Terror

(WBAP/KLIF) – It is too early to tell if the West, Texas Fertilizer Plant Explosion could someday be labeled an act of terror now that it has been called a criminal act.

“We don’t know whether this is, what I would call, a despicable but ordinary criminal act or whether this was an act of terrorism,” said Senator John Cornyn in a conference call with reporters on Wednesday.

He says an act of terrorism would be more orchestrated and much more complicated.

15 people were killed in the explosion. 12 were firefighters.

Investigators with the ATF announced Wednesday that the fire that led to the explosion was incendiary in nature meaning someone set it.
