American Airlines implodes old headquarters

Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – American Airlines has imploded six buildings at its former headquarters south of DFW Airport in Fort Worth to make room for a new corporate complex. The buildings were first occupied in 1983, but have been vacant for the last six years. They were about a mile away from the airlines’ current headquarters. American says the implosion went as planned, although there were parts of some of the buildings still standing after the blasts. The company says that was deliberate to protect nearby trees, and those remnants will be cleared away with the rubble.
