Texas keeping D.C. lawyers hopping

scales-justice-stand_115bc1c8a2bca4cfAUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF 24/7 News) – The lawsuit filed Wednesday against the federal government’s directive on school transgender bathroom policies marks the 40th time Texas has sued the Obama administration.

The attorney general’s office told the Texas Tribune that as of December 2015 35 of those cases cost state taxpayers about $5.1 million. The scorecard shows Texas has won six of those cases and lost ten. Eight cases were withdrawn including a suit filed in March over medical benefits for same-sex couples.

Of the 40 lawsuits brought against the federal government 31 were filed by former Attorney General, now governor, Greg Abbott. Ken Paxton succeeded him as AG this past January and has issued nine legal challenges against the Obama administration.
