MANSFIELD (WBAP/KLIF) – Rescue crews are trying to look for a missing North Texas high school student who disappeared in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Mansfield Independent School District has sent a letter home with students notifying parents of the incident.
The student, who was not named in the release, is a ninth grader at Lake Ridge High School. The student was in Corpus Christi for a SkillsUSA state competition and went missing in the rough Gulf of Mexico waters.
The letter says while crews continue their search efforts, the Mansfield ISD community is providing comfort and assistance to the family and other students.
