ARLINGTON (Associated Press) – The Texas high school football championship games are returning to the $1.2 billion home of the Dallas Cowboys after being held in Houston last year.
The University Interscholastic League announced Thursday the first multiyear deal since moving all the 11-man title games to the same site in 2010. Under the two-year contract, both six-man games will be at AT&T Stadium as well.
This year’s championships from classes 1A to 6A, the state’s largest, will be Dec. 14-17.
The Cowboys hosted the title games four straight years before a scheduling conflict with their game against the New York Jets in 2015 forced the move to NRG Stadium, home of the Houston Texans.
Despite the first multiyear contract, UIL executive director Charles Breithaupt said Houston and the Alamodome in San Antonio would still be considered as future sites.
