COLLEYVILLE (WBAP/KLIF News) – The FBI is pushing to seize $5 million in life insurance benefits from policies they say were fraudulently obtained for a woman who was murdered while cleaning a house in Colleyville in 2014.
Investigators said she was killed by member of the Irish Travelers Fraud Ring, Gerard Gorman and his son Bernard, so they could collect her $1 million life insurance policy, which she was unaware of.
Gerard Gorman died of natural causes before police were able to make an arrest. Bernard Gorman has been charged with murder and is out on bond awaiting trial.
There were four other policies out on Fox totaling $4 million and her children, Al Fox III and Virginia Buckland, are listed as beneficiaries.
Fox’s children are arguing over the proceeds in court. The Buckland’s filed lawsuit against the insurance companies alleging that they failed to make the payout owed on the policies.
Fox III accused Buckland and her husband Mark of planning their mother’s murder to pocket the insurance money. The Buckland’s filed a counterclaim against Fox III.
The lawsuits have been consolidated into one case in Tarrant County.
FBI agents say both children are suspects in insurance fraud and Fox’s death. Neither one have been officially accused of a crime.
