DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Dallas City Council has unanimously approved a sub-district in the city’s design district that could pave the way for a new arena for the Dallas Mavericks.
The rezoning allows for structures higher than 85 feet and will bring a trail connector from the Victory Park DART Station to where the current Mavs practice facility is in the design district.
As of now, the practice facility and downtown are disconnected.
Mavs Owner Mark Cuban began speaking of a new arena last march, citing growing construction and fewer parking spaces around the American Airlines Center.
He told the Dallas Morning News after Wednesday’s rezoning approval that they can now begin to look how that may take shape.
