DALLAS (AP) – An audit has found that a law enforcement official poised to become one of the top officers in Dallas County was paid for hundreds of hours of service that she may not have worked.
Among other findings, the routine county audit determined Precinct 1 Chief Deputy Constable Tracey Gulley did not provide documentation to confirm she worked on various days. Also, her county vehicle did not leave her home on 27 days that she said she was working.
The Dallas Morning News reports that auditors reviewed a period of more than six months and had questions about nearly 90 days of her work.
Gulley is running unopposed in November to become the precinct’s next constable.
She told the paper the errors with her timekeeping were clerical, not ethical.
