FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Police are still searching for the suspect who sparked a stand off in Fort Worth this morning.
The incident started around 4:30 a.m. after police were called about a robbery at a Valero gas station on Allen Avenue near I-35W.
Fort Worth Police Officer Tamara Valle said a witness who had entered the gas station called police after seeing the clerk tied up on the floor.
“It was unclear at that time whether or not the suspect was still inside the Valero station. So, SWAT was called out and on the scene, they did their SWAT tactics and they were able to get into the building,” she said.
Once inside, the SWAT team was able to get the clerk out to safety. Valle said the suspect was not inside the building and they’re not sure when the individual left the scene.
Police surrounded the gas station for almost four hours and blocked off nearby roads during the stand off.
The clerk was taken to a local hospital and the extent of his injuries is unknown.
