DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price spent his 67th birthday in the courthouse Monday, but still did not receive any news about his fate.
Price is charged with 11 counts of tax evasion, mail fraud, and bribery, and the jury in his corruption trial has now been deliberating for nearly a week with no verdict.
Through four days of deliberation, they’ve spent about 25 hours considering eight weeks worth of evidence and testimony.
The jury reconvened with the judge on the first day of deliberations to get clarification on a couple of unknown topics, but they’ve not had any questions for the court since. If they’re unable to reach a verdict, the government could choose to re-try price with a new jury.
Day five for deliberations will begin Tuesday morning — one week after lawyers wrapped up their closing arguments.
