Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF News) β American Airlines says it plans to add CT scanners at airport security checkpoints at its hubs to speed the security process. Right now, the Transportation Security Administration is testing the scanners in Phoenix.
βAt American, we are always looking at ways to invest in technology that enhances global aviation security while improving the customer experience,β Senior Vice President Kerry Philipovitch writes in a statement.
American will work with a company based in Massachusetts to develop the scanners. They will provide TSA agents with a three dimensional view of carry on bags.
Right now, only checked luggage is run through CT scanners. Adding the machines for carry-ons will let passengers keep liquids and laptop computers in their bags. American says the machines will require people to use fewer bins and speed lines through security.
