UNT Officers Say They Were Refused Service at Chili’s

DENTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The University of North Texas says two of its police officers were refused service at a Chili’s restaurant on University Drive.

Margarita Venegus with UNT says they are still looking into why the officers were refused.

“One of them went to talk to a manager there and it is our understanding Chili’s is looking into it,” said Venegus.

Chili’s later apologized on the Denton News Now Facebook page and issued a statement.

“After investigating internally, we learned that we did not provide the special service that guests expect when dining at Chili’s. For that, we sincerely apologize,” the statement read in part.

Chili’s is calling the incident a miscommunication and not a result of employees not wanting to serve law enforcement.
