PLANO (WBAP/KLIF News) – Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano hosted it’s second church security conference in the past two weeks on Tuesday.
Former Dallas Police officer Mike Gurley is leading the seminar and said churches are still trying to figure out how to react to the Sutherland Springs massacre.
“They’re just hungry for what we do next. What we portray to this is a journey not a destination. Your never going to get there wherever there is. Our goal is to be safer this Sunday than we were last Sunday,” he said.
26 people were killed when a gunman burst through the doors of the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs and opened fire last month.
“There was just an outcry…just a hunger for…’what do we do”…it was such a tragedy,” said Gurley.
Mike Buster is a pastor at Prestonwood and said the shooting left many parishioners with questions.
“Congregations want to feel secure. They want to come to worship at the same time they want to know there is security in place,” he said.
Around 1300 people attended the seminars.
