FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – People with outstanding tickets or warrants with the Fort Worth Municipal Court are being given the chance to negotiate.
The court declared February “Warrant Forgiveness Month.”
Judge Danny Rogers said people who take action on their warrants on their own may be eligible for alternatives like community service or a reduced fine.
“The judge has it within her power or authority to waive warrant fees to waive collection fees and work out a deal that the person can handle and take care of their business,” he said.
Theresa Ewing is the director of the municipal court and said those with tickets can work out a deal before it becomes a warrant.
“We want the community to come in and talk to us before it becomes a warrant,” she said. The program ends March 2nd.
It’s an initiative that will help a lot of people. The City of Fort Worth has 300,000 Class C warrants on record.
