DALLAS – WBAP/KLIF – The holidays can be a time of increased family squabbles, but at times, violence as well. Paige Fink of the DFW’s “The Family Place” wants anyone living in fear and violence to know that organization offers women, children and men a total of 179 beds, as a safe alternative. This organization also takes in family pets with the victims; Fink says the family pets are often the pawns in bad relationships, and threatened with death, that keep victims from escaping.
Fink says while some people might expect an uptick in those looking for escape from violence during the holidays, very often it’s the opposite – people don’t like the idea of sitting in a shelter during holidays. It’s during the holidays calls to The Family Place rise asking for help creating a safe escape plan. Fink encourages anyone living in fear or fearing an escalation of serious problems to call them on their hotline for assistance in creating that plan for anyone needing a safe place – dogs, cats and other family pets included. The Family Place hotline number is 214-941-1991.
