FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – The father of the woman shot and killed in her family’s home by a Fort Worth Police Officer last month has died.
According to family spokesman Bruce Carter, 59-year-old Marquis A. Jefferson, the father of Atatiana Jefferson, died saturday. Atatiana was fatally shot by former Fort Worth Police Officer Aaron dean. Dean resigned from the Fort Worth Police Department and was charged with murder.
Marquis Jefferson suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized Friday. He died the next day.
In October, a Judge granted Jefferson a temporary restraining order, giving him full authority to make arrangements for his daughter’s funeral and burial. Her father voiced frustration with the high profile nature of his daughter’s death.
