DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Residents of a Northeast Dallas condominium are seeking assistance from Red Cross after their homes were destroyed in an overnight fire. Some residents at the Sable Ridge Condominiums on Abrams Road are now being helped at a respite center at Lake Highlands North Recreation Center. Red Cross is providing them with hygiene products, blankets, shelter and food. “I was sleeping and smelled smoke..then I heard someone screaming from outside…fire, fire! and then all of a sudden flames shot up all the way to the top of the building,” said resident Jason Brown.
Lisa Morgan with North Texas Red Cross says there’s about 90 people without homes now. She said each unit is owned by individual landlords and they are working to get that information to start case work. “We need to determine if they are going to be staying with family and friends, if there landlord has an option for them to stay at another vacancy that the landlord might have or if we need to help them develop another plan,” Morgan said. 
The building was demolished Wednesday afternoon because of the extensive damage and safety concerns. “I couldn’t even go back in because the third floor and second floor fell into my living room. They wouldn’t let us go back in to get anything I lost everything,” said Resident Patrish Irvin.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but residents say they had electrical problems in the past and say the building was very old.
